If it takes a chip it is a 5LE, if not then it is a 5L, goes without saying I guess. We use Rapid chips as they have the ability to be tuned by us for maximum performance while maintaining safe EGT's, it's not a generic tune suited to another vehicle as with most chips.

Agreed, and the reason I asked is cause he's asking about putting a chip in a 5L ... :?

Sorry guys, it's a 5L not 5LE so the chip is out, and my real question is what is the best turbo for it, do I have to do any other mods to the engine, or should I just keep it for the farm and go buy a Patrol 4.2TD tray,,, I got myself a boat which is pretty hard going towing with the Lux...thanks for your input....

If it was me and I was towing a big boat, 20 foot or bigger go the Patrol, a 16 foot tinny will be OK on the Lux.

It has been asked plenty of times, the info for the turbos on a 3L is exactly the same for 5L.

Do a search on here, google it....

Hi, Thought I would let those who replied to this post what I ended up doing.....ok I went to AXT Turbo in Dandenong Vic, had their intercooled turbo fitted along with a 2.5" exhaust, all I can say is wow, should have done this mod years ago, done about a 1000 klms now and am very happy with it, A big well done to AXT, no bullshit just good honest people to deal with...recomend them highly...cheers

I'd fit a CT12B from a 1KZ. Toyota's done all the hard work for you.

I've never seen anyone be dissappointed from turbo charging a diesel, there aren't any other mods that will give 50% + increases in power and torque without using more fuel in normal driving. I rather the DTS/MTQ kit myself due to the Mitsubishi turbo which is water cooled and has a full 360 degree thrust not the typical 270 that comes with a Garrett or Garrett copy.
