Where to brace chassie?

Post by Rorza »

Hi ive got a 79 hilux and was wondering where the chassie should and could be braced to increase strength if anyone has done this and has advice or photos would be appreciated. Also any chassie work must be engineer approved?

have heard of chassis cracking before where the very front crossmember welds to the main chassis.

alot of the older chassis seem to twist behind the cab, maybe it has something to do with laterall lenght verse a builder caring 15 ton a day for the last 20 years but i would measure this up for square and look at X bracing between the sparewheel mount and gearbox cross member.

they also seem to sag, but this is due to rust in the ctr of the frame so i would sus that out before you get any big plans.
