Bodylift tech

Post by Jimmy L »

I can't get the back studs out at the the chasis. I tried to tighten two nuts onto the thread and and undo it but there isn't any room for a spanner. Has anyone got some suggestions, before I attack with an angle grinder?

Cheers

you can try to heat up the studs and then spray some wd40 on it it will help the wd40 to get thinner so it can creep up better

No probs, I've managed to get them out, I forget to take off the orginal nut before trying to remove the stud, doh. The rest of the body bolts were relatively easy so it's ready for the lift.

Jimmy,

how high are you going with the body lift? 50mm or 60mm? Did you buy fine metric thread, 10mm bolts for the front 2 and rear 2 blocks? Saves cutting or bashing off existing nuts...

Dave,
I got the high tensile metric thread nuts and bolts from a bearing and bolts specialist. I basically studied your procedure and some of the old threads on this forum to gain the knowledge to do the lift- you legend ! The lift will be 50mm I am happy with that as it is the maximum body lift allowed in Qld. One bolt to go

Cheers

Heath, Im a madman eh? that's harsh :bad-words: if my memory serves me, you were the ringleader on that little trek and I was just a follower. Whose idea was it to go up that goat track anyway?

Well, completed the lift except for bullbar and rear bumper, and am pleased with it. Total cost of bolts, washers and blocks $140, a bit of time afterwork. That's heaps better than coffing up $700- $800 for something that is relatively simple to do.
Now I can put a set of 31in mud terrians on when I get the cash and it's ready to rock n roll. Plus my rear leaf springs are badly sagged due to carrying 4 grown men and large quantities of beer along the beach.
Thanks to Dave Fogwill and others for advise on doing a bodylift to a feroza, it was a good experience I think I know my vehicle better as a result. Does anyone want a cheap set of genuine Feroza rims and BFG A/t, going for cheap?
Cheers
