Landcruiser Guys - Your New Housings Are Here!
Thought I would put some pictures of the new Buds Customs 9.5" Landcruiser Housings.
This one was built to place a land cruiser centre in the rear of a 05 hilux, utilising the semi float hilux axles and ABS setup.
Housing features, 6mm housing construction, 12mm centre face plate, 12mm thick axle tubes
Cheers
Buddy

Re: Landcruiser Guys - Your New Housings Are Here!
Sounds good.
I would be after a standard length 80s rear and a 60s front with lengthened short side. Ill fit the front knuckles so i can do the C&T
Are these housings strong enough without extra bracing?
Biggest issue im having with my braced standard axles is that the gussets are sinking into the thin housing at the top and tearing the bottom open.
Yes i do drive like an idiot.

Reading the above post I think you need all the bracing you can get. Buddy, Can you supply them with thicker axle tubes? Also pre braced by yourself?

Re: Landcruiser Guys - Your New Housings Are Here!
Have you looked into the legalities in QLD with these at all Buddy? I guess with you using them for SAS's then they are all fine? It'd require a mod plate i guess?
Thinking this would be a much better way to get the front diff width to match a 60 series rear instead of using IFS hubs on the 40 housing. Do it as Z()ltan mentioned and extend the short side with a custom axle so I dont have the dramas of the pumpkin being in the way like when using a 60 series front diff.
Would help sort some of the scrubbing issues I'm having when running with wheel spacers at the moment with the large scrub radius.

my bag, running a rear center up front from a 80 series. Will steering arms clear? if not what needs to be done so it can be fitted?

I would consult your engineer, my engineer has no issues with these used with the SAS, i have not checked with just substitution but any thing can be engineered.TWISTY wrote:Have you looked into the legalities in QLD with these at all Buddy? Can you make up a new rear diff for the current model cruiser ute to correct wheel base?
Re: Landcruiser Guys - Your New Housings Are Here!

Yep thats what the bloke said and you can see the huge difference front to rear. He carries a bit of camping gear and wants a lil more stability. Can't run 50 mm spacers for insurance and i woldn't want the extra force it puts on the hub/axle. I think the fronts out of an 80 and the rear hasn't changed from last model.

I hate those dual wheels amd massive tubs. See em now and again and they take up more room on the road than a truck.

to run a nissan high pinon in your hilux you will need to run a modified ARB air locker, then reuse your axles, good excuse to link that front endWilly Hilux wrote:Great for the hilux fronts too.
