Turning a 1hz into a 1hd

Post by Gaston »

Hi all,
I have a 1hz in my hzj75 cruiser and I just bought a 1hdt, but its got a slight knocking sound in the engine. I was just wondering if anyone ever changed the pump, injectors and turbo over to a 1hz. Would it bo possible??

Lots of more important stuff on the 1hd that make them a far better motor bigger rods, different pistons. Spend the money and get the 1hd reco'd you won't regret it. How much was the 1hd and what condition is it in. Is it a 1hdt or ihdfte and is out of the 100 or the 79?

I'm a nosey bastard hey!

Got it for helpin him change the engine, he said it was running fine before he got someone to change thehead gasket, but there's only a knock that sounds like it's comin from under the tapit cover.

You might be lucky and it might just be the wrong head gasket or something

If the pistons are hitting the head yes.... it's easily worth lifting the head to see what's going on..... on second thoughts, yes it's cactus, I'll give you $100 cash for the whole thing, sight unseen....

regarding your original question, yes you could put the turbo on the 1hz with some work, its not quite bolt on.

the fuel pumps are different internally, the injection timing is different, the injection pressure is different (and the crack pressure of the injectors is too). I fitted a 1HZ pump to a 1HD-T and it would only just get it running, it was undriveable.

the injectors are not interchangeable, they are completely different design.

I would be doing some investigation on the 1HD-T for sure.
