long story short, i've got two handheld UHFs I purchased overseas assuming they'd work fine here, but I've found out they're scanners which can only operate between 400 MHz and 470 MHz. FYI, Our channels for general communications (Channels 1 - 40) use the frequency 476 - 478 MHz. They are cool handsets, I don't know what brand, they only say "IC-995" on the front. They are 5W units, so can put out some good signal, and have rechargable batteries with docking stations.
After searching the net I have found out that these are used for specific communications in AU - for example I can get the ambulance frequency here in Brisbane...
Does anyone know if there is a way to change thesse to broadcast over the normal signal frequency so I can use it with the in car UHF's?
Failing that, does anyone want to buy the set for what it owes me ($120)?
