75 series troopy auto locker
do spartan or lockright do a rear locker for 75 series troopy [91model] it has an lsd in ,any help would be appreciated,cheers mick

Yes, but you will need to take the LSD out to put the locker in.

how hard is it to remove the lsd ??and which locker would any body recommend

Take the axles out (leave wheels on if you want)
Jack car as high as the stands will allow, as you will need a bit of room to move
Climb under take the tail shaft out (put a mark on the tail shaft flange where one bolt is so you can put it back in the same holes)
Undo the 10-12 bolts that hold the centre in place
Give it a tap with a rubber mallet
Pull the centre out
Clean the face of the housing where the housing and centre meet.
And do everything above in reverse.
Should take a couple of hours at most, make sure you work out which is the upside on the new centre, so your not trying to rotate the heavy ass centre while under the car.
I recommend either an air locker if funds permit or a richmond auto locker.

i haven't heard anything about Richmond lockers before, can you give more detail? have you used them before? how do they stack up against common lockers? and can i ask what you paid

Richmond makes LockRights (lunch box lockers)
Eaton (formerly Tractech) makes Detroit Lockers (the original automatic locker with its own housing).
I've only used a Lockright on a Toyota Hilux using the 2 pinion open diff housing.
I used to run a Detroit Locker on my Daihatsu Rocky.
Review:
The Lockright was really smooth with hardly any backlash.
Then one day for some odd reason the halfshaft broke.
Ever since replacing the halfshaft, the Lockright has been pretty clunky and pops and bangs on the road.
However it still works effectively when offroading.
The detroit locker seem smoother and i believe they are far stronger and more refined than the lockright.
But of late i've been hearing claims that the smoothest operating automatic locker is the Kaiser locker from Brazil.
Anyone down under tried them out yet?

I put a Richmond Powertrax in the rear of the old mans 75 series troopy and a loc-rite in the front.
The Powertrax worked sweet and was quite as, untill it stopped working and self destructed about 2 yrs later http://www.richmondgear.com/powertrax/noslip.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Richmond Loc-Rite just works, a bit noisey sometimes but I have had a few and never a failure.
