Garrett turbo on 1hz
Im putting a big Garrett on my 1hz but it looks like that waste Gate is going to hit the engine block, has anyone come across this before? And what have they done?

Re: Garrett turbo on 1hz
hay there i fitted a huge gt30/76 roller turbo the 3 inch inlet just cleared the engine mount and had to mod the wase gate actuator which was no big problem im sure yours will fit
Re: Garrett turbo on 1hz
Ok, mine is a gt32/76, that's what I'm needing to know on how to do the waste gate side of things, do you have any pics of yours?
Re: Garrett turbo on 1hz
this is what i had to do to fit my gt2871 to my 1hdt

Re: Garrett turbo on 1hz
It depends entirely on what manifold/adapters you use.
I used a DTS manifold and a 2 piece adapter, this brought the turbo just far enough away from the block and engine mount to need minimal waste gate actuator modifications.
Here is an old pic of mine, a GT2876r. Even the 4" inlet clears the engine mount easy.

Re: Garrett turbo on 1hz
I'm using a denco manifold that the turbo bolts straight up to
Re: Garrett turbo on 1hz
hey, what did you guys do to your engine to stop the over heating in the pistons and the head? i just droped compression in my third piston, to pull the engine down and find 5 out of 6 pistons cracked, one fully in half, and the bottom of the head with cracks all through it. its a 1hz with a safari turbo kit. im planning on rebuilding the motor and trying again with the turbo, got any ideas what to do to help from this happening again?
