TOYZUKI 96 coily zook,lux diffs, 3 inch suspension lift,3 inch body lift, 33'sMTRS,series 4 hopper,power steer,twin air lockers,4 LINK front and rear,2 inch spacers(GOT WIDTH)
RB you might want to wait ,hold off of gettin ya speedo calibrated cause if you are plannin on fittin a series 1 rockhopper you will find that it will be spot on ...................
And i know this for a fact cause after i got defected in A1ZOOK i had to get it enigineered and shite i had to get the speedo checked for the certificate i got it done on a dyno and it was within 1km upto 140km she was hummin on there
Just a thought dude and even if you are gunna fit a series 3 wait till you fit it to save gettin it done twice .......................................

Easy way to get your speed settings right is have someone drive next to you and get on the phone with them and what we did was figured the RPM's at 90kph and 110kph, and went with that for how fast we were going in 5th gear.
40 and 60kph should be pretty easy to figure out. Just go slow.

My tires were rubbing in the front, so I trimmed the hood, and now they're fine...

Sorry A1 - the other folks are correct... The speedo reading comes from the output side of the x-fer case and is therefore unaffected by changing the x-fer case gearing.
However, if you change the diff gears - well that's another story

Do a search RB - i'm pretty sure that i have posted up some whiz bang calculations for working this sort of stuff out. There'll be a link to it in the "buying a suzuki" topic.
Cheers

ok then smart ass then how duz that work out that wen i had 31's and series 1 my speedo was correct an it had standard ratios and the speedo wasnt touched (pauline hanson voice on PLEASE EXPLAIN )
I would assume it would of been close wen factory and it had 26"s or so on it ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Take it easy dear... should i get you a panadol and a hot water bottle?
Okay - back to business... Your previous zook (which you still pretend to own so you can come and hang out with us cool people in the zook forum) was a coiler - my suggestion is that when you have changed over to a 1.3L transfer case (which you have since you are running a rockhopper right) - you have affected the reading that the speedo is getting from the x-fer.
i.e. the 1.3L case and speedo are set up differently to the coiler case and speedo.
Note that the 1.3L Widetrack and 1L NT are set up differently - they have different diff gears, but still have the same sized tyres - that means that either their x-fer case output for the speedo, or the speedo itself is different right?
How can we prove this? Well all we need is for someone to post up how many revs they use in a stock tyred coiler to do 100kms, then compare that to the 1.3L stock tyred sierra and that will prove the theory.
:ahem: it's my theory, i own it and all that it is and represents :ahem:

Well fair enough.......................but in this case if this right Rb wont have to change anything correct with 31"s on his coiler (And beleive me i dont wish i still owned my old coily it was a good beginner rig but i decided to grow up you should to and move onto sumthing more capable ) anyway back to business cause if this is so your ahem theory his speedo will also be correct just by fittin the gear driven case as i did ....................................so to help rb out instead of payin people out hold off doin anything to your speedo RB fit your gear driven case (with wat eva gear set you like! by other peoples comments) and as long as you run 31"s and standard gear ratio's your speedo will be spot on as MINE was ...................................

gears have turned up at last , but the speedo still reads wrong , speedo reads 90 kph at approx 100 kph true speed , A1MAV , your correct reading speedo is hard to explain [/b]nelligen wrote:I will be fitting rockcrawler to coily with 31s as soon as the gears turn up from calmini I think(and hope) gregs theory is correct and ill let you know the outcome.
Not sure dude i had mine tested on the dyno at a local company to prove the calibration so that i could get my engineeers report i was runnin bfg muddys i know tyres even tho they are 31's can be slightly different in in circumference (height) so maybe this is the case if not just wait n let greg explain it he sees to know everything else

I used the speedo drive gear from the gear driven case, did you maybe use the gear from the coily case ??? there has to be some explanation .A1MAV wrote:Not sure dude i had mine tested on the dyno at a local company to prove the calibration so that i could get my engineeers report i was runnin bfg muddys i know tyres even tho they are 31's can be slightly different in in circumference (height) so maybe this is the case if not just wait n let greg explain it he sees to know everything else
