Offroad Boss King of the Rim '11
The Offroad Boss, King of the Rim will be back again this year, bigger and better than ever!
Held at Scenic Rim Adventure Park on the 19th/20th of November, this years event will be one not to be missed.
King of the Rim '11 will introduce a new format that will keep both competitors and spectators on the edge of their seats. Mitch and I have taken on the roles of Competition Managers, and with this, brought some new ideas and direction.
This year, we will be running 2 classes:
Modified - Bodied car on up to 37" tyres
Buggy/Truggy - Unlimited
Both classes will be running the same track for the Saturday. This track will be an endurance track, which will consist of 5 x approx. 30 min laps. Between each lap, teams will be given the opportunity to have a 10min pitstop to refuel and check over the vehicle in the pit area. Teams can choose to not take this break and continue onto the next lap if desired.
The track will be suitable for any modified vehicle with lockers and 35" tyres. It is setup as an endurace race, with high speed sections, gully runs, hill climbs, vertical banks and jumps. There won't be any real damaging rock, which will ensure a fast, flowing fun track for both teams and spectators alike.
There will be a special stage for the Modified Class late afternoon Saturday while the Buggy/Truggy class prepare for Cal's Climb . This will be run under lights, starting at the bottom and ending at the top of the climb. Teams will be sent off in 2 minute intervals, so passing will be encourged (under safe conditions).
Keep an eye out on this thread for further updates, track pictures and track building dates. We encourage anyone to come out and show support and give their feedback.
Entry fees, camping and spectator information will be posted on the Scenic Rim webpage in the coming weeks.
Any queries or suggestions, give us a call on my mobile.
Regards
Brett Thorpe

This is the proposed track outline Mitch and I have come up with. We will be heading out in a couple of weeks to run the track to get an idea on lap times. We will need a modified class vehicle if anyone is interested, and will organise a date shortly.

As long as it doesnt exclude me from competing that is! I assume that wont be a problem as the event is open to be pre-run

This event is designed to cater for single seaters aswell. If you want to run the whole event on your own, then you can. Or you could have a navi on standby (the only section of possible concern is within walking distance of the pit area). It would probably be a smart idea having someone spot for you on the night stage too.simcoz wrote:Well that puts me out as i was going to run the single seater.Rolly wrote:The Offroad Boss King of the Rim 2011

yeah no problem with driving the track but you wont be able to do some of it at speed as it goes onto 2 of the main tracks and there could be traffic .purplebus wrote:we are keen as well. we will be out there on 23rd/24th of july. are we allowed to drive the tracks on that weekend as well as we wont make the prerun.?
when we run it on sunday these tracks will be closed for a couple of hours so the boys can get into it and give us some lap times.
there will be a few sections that will be changed before the event but if you drive around you will get a good idea on what we are doing.
