all opions will be appreicated as i am looking into using one of these motors as a transplant.

Yeah Mate they do suffer from poor servicing resulting in noisy motors and the timing chain needing to be replaced prematurely. Allow $1500 the timing chain, tensioners, water pump to be replaced.

thats not correct according to redbook.

Mines a 1999 2.5 V6 manual and only came with a 106kW @ 6200rpm & 208Nm @ 3500-3500rpm

03 models got 116kW @ 6200rpm & 213Nm @ 3500-3500rpm

The 2.7 V6 XL7's got 130kW @ 6200rpm & 231Nm @ 3300-3300rpm and in 2004 that went up to 135kw and 250Nm
1999 SQ625 Manual Grand Vitara. Lifted, Twin Locked, 31' Extremes, dual Batteries, Winch.
Lots of custom gear as I cant afford the proper stuff.
