I have a specialised 10amp 12volt motor that has burnt windings due to a switch shorting out.
Has anyone had any experience with having a 12v motor rewound?
Who can do this for me? Auto elec??
Is it cost effective vs getting a new motor ( I may not be able to replace the motor easily)
Can I expect the motor to be as good as it was previously?

Very limited experience..... one 12V motor rewound. Used an industrial motor rewinder and it cost a fortune as it was the armature that went. A field winding will be cheaper IMO

problem I have is it is a purpose made motor, with specific housing and drive gear, (not generic) and from what i can tell, its no longer in production.
it's still running, just gutless as. Will see how we go.

AFAIK there are people whose sole business is armature winding.
I recently spoke to the guy who sanded my floor and he had his sander motor rewound, apparently it is over fifty years old too.

Maybe try some of these guys, if they can't do it someone will know who can. Just a thought, I've never had it done myself.
