Well what a long time coming!
Firstly before i say too much Frank at A & B Auto is a very passionate man who knows his stuff and does quality work.
He does everything with a side of OCD and i cannot fault his workman ship.
He stuck to his quote and commented that he is not the typical workshop who will call you up saying "something came up and it is going to cost $x more". Various things came up with my job but it didnt cost me any more than he originally quoted.
However it did take them 6 weeks to complete the job most of which was spent waiting on parts to arrive which, with a little foresight, should of been avoided.
Anyway onto the work!
So the job was simple......replace the turbo!
After various discussions we decided the best route was to replace it with an oil and water cooled turbo (i realise there are mixed opinions on this but i personally believe it is a massive benefit)
The next issue was that the original turbo could not be identified even once off and in bits so trying to match inlets & outlets was a no-goer.
A turbo was decided on (to be honest i have no idea what it is other than a TD-05) - if any of you can ID THIS turbo that would be great for future reference (and price comparison)
They then set about making all the changes needed to get it into its new home and routing new oil and water lines.
All the fittings, piping, hose etc are top quality and almost too good to be on a dirty 4x4 instead of a race car (as they are intended!)
As for performance it is hard to say as i dont drive the car often enough to get a good feel for it. It is not vastly different to how it drove before however it holds 9PSI well (old turbo used to peak and tail off) and apparently has pleantly of scope to be increased. Also it no longer blows little clouds of smoke when i give it some (presumably because this turbo isnt leaking oil past the seals!). Only got the car back this week so am still to test it offroad and on the freeway!
Onto the show off pics (also sporting my new power steering reservoir project which has just been finished!
