As the Mav had alot of travel in the rear I have tried just about everything.
When I retained both ends I was stuffing coils as it compresses and stretches the coils and I would go through rear coils every 3 months.
I also tried very long soft coils that retained themselves, but for the travel thay had to be too soft. So I ended up with retained on the bottom and a cone ( no TJ Pete) down the middle of the top. :D
NOW ABLE TOO SAY WHAT I WANT WITHOUT FEAR OF LOOSING SALES.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

On the Planet K O N E they run tapered wire, progressive coils which eliminates this problem.

Glen is on the mark here. Look at the number of USA championship vehicles that still run leaf packs. Yes, you do have wrap issues but you don't have control arm issues. And leaf technology still continues to evolve. Look at Overkill's!

Bottom retained, top coned, that is what I have on the rear of the Disco, and I can get ~550 on a 30 degree ramp. Going for something more radical to stretch it to 750 soon...
Coned in the rear is the way to go!
front, not sure yet???

POS has leaf front and coil on the rear, at xrcc r1 the car appeared to be very stable with loads of travel all round, but i failed to look at his coil drop set up.

come on POS what have you done to the rear.

I got mine retained top and bottom all around and IMO is the best setup for my rig.

POS has his retained top and bottom in the rear.

i got sick of bending strap mounts and breaking straps so i retained the bottom and coned the top.that was for the rear...
the shocks and bindup limit the front so nothing done there.
it does 1000mm front and 1125mm rear .
on a 30 degree ramp it goes up 2010 front and 2250 rear.
shock and spring mounts are all factory except for the front radius arm drop brackets and still uses original bump stops.
everything is bolt on so i can go back to standard when i get caught.
