Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
Tyres, sliders and coil spacers
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
X2. If you can hold out a bit im waiting till end of march to see if goodyear do there 4 for price of 3 yearly tire sale again. That would give you a bit more coin for something else ie cheap winch.Tiny wrote:Tyres, sliders and coil spacers

Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
If he goes higher in suspension even with coil spacers. He will have to address caster issues. So why not just do it right the first time.
Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
Because of his other threadTheBigBoy wrote:If he goes higher in suspension even with coil spacers. He will have to address caster issues. So why not just do it right the first time.
So spacers 1inch would lift it back to a 2inch lift no need for castor correction.ndog wrote:looks nice yer thats good idea have thought that but just want it to sit higher my 2'' looks like stock hight want more clearance
And sliders would let him go alot harder without damaging the sills.

Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
3G's??
tyres, sliders, lockers.
leave it at 2" lift.
If you want it to look tough, go for low, big rubber, get it all barred up and it will look tougher than lifting it 9" like a pootrol

Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
With a 3 inch on the suspension castor.is bearable (or so I've been told). I'd get 3 inch coils 4 inch shocks. Sliders and.winch.
93 RV, 5 in tough dog lift, dobinsons shocks and coils, PA, dual fuel, many many oil leaks and a ton of character.
Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
It is definately not bearable if used as a road car (unless you like it handling like a pig). Your caster will be at -2.16 degrees with 3". Perfect caster is +3 degrees. So you will need 5.16 degrees of possitive caster correction for 3" of lift. Ill affect start to happen at 0 degrees. So your well into that. To put that in perspective 2" of lift is -0.44 and right on border line.howsie wrote:With a 3 inch on the suspension castor.is bearable (or so I've been told). I'd get 3 inch coils 4 inch shocks. Meaning anything over 2", caster should definately be addressed.
Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
Well in that case it would be tyre barwork winch. I got my car with the lift done so haven't had personal experience with lifts

Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
Tyres for sure. I would go sliders before a winch.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
Do you want a tourer or a basher?
For a basher:
If you can fit the suspension yourself and make your own sliders, you could achieve all three.
1. Tyres - see Ryan at Fourbys
2. Sliders - make you own, just use 50mm box
3. Suspenion 4" coils and shocks + castor correction and brake lines. - Pete at Redlands 4wd will get the setup you're chasing.
When you save enough coin, throw a locker in. But I would do the above first.
Tourer
Suspension you have is fine.
Tyres for sure
Sliders uneccessary.

Well in that case a 2"lift is fine, get a good set of tyres like you said and get luxury things like awnings and draws etc. A 2"lift and 33s will get you most places in Australia touring wise. A locker would be better than more lift. Wouldn't be fussed on sliders, rather a strong set of steps would do.

Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
is the car mechanically sound.
one of the main things a tourer has to be is reliable.
if i had 3 grand spare id make sure the car is 100 percent. no point having new tyres and sliders if the car isnt mechanically sound enough to leave the cities

Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
ha good call especially the piss was looking at winch might get sliders and winch still got a fair few weeks to go so might b able to get a few more dollas together
Re: 80 series and 3grand to spend
If your getting a Tigerz11 winch, wait a week or so. I rand up the warehouse earlier this month, and they reckon they are going direct to the public 1st of March, so should be a fair bit cheaper
60 + Turbo, 33"s
