McNamara single piece cross shaft - GROUP BUY

McNamara single piece cross shaft - GROUP BUY
There are a few boys on Pirate4x4 that have expressed interest in buying a McNamara single piece cross shaft for their LT230 transfers.
I'm posting up here to see if there is an interest to get enough numbers for a decent group buy. The last one we had on here yielded a fairly good discount on Maxi-Drive transfer gears, so they do work and can get you a good discount.
For those who don't know, the single piece cross shaft is one of the 'must really do that one day' modifications for the LT230 that pretty well removes the only weak link in the case. The OEM shaft is 2 pieces and has been known to fail leaving you with no drive and what can be a costly repair, depending on what else happens to break. The OEM shafts have cut outs in them and they overlap (like joining two pieces of timber) whereas the single piece cross shaft is a one piece design that is much stronger.
So if getting offroad is something you tend to do in your Rover, then get a cross shaft from McNamara.
Group buy starts here:
Who is in? Prices will depend on numbers, but I think they're around the $110 mark.

Re: McNamara single piece cross shaft - GROUP BUY
I already have one, but it may be easier (to deal with ) Ashcrofts to get them, i ordered a LT230 rebuild kit from them and cross shaft, had it in 5 days from the UK.

Benny, Are you pulling the welded centre out of the moonbuggy???
Even with a single piece cross shaft and new thrust washers, it'll flog out in about 3-4 runs/digs/sessions.

How's that? Isn't the point of the one piece shaft too "weld" the diff and make it (front eng) rear wheel drive?

Re: McNamara single piece cross shaft - GROUP BUY
my understanding is that the one piece just strengthens the diff, you would need a spool if you wanted to weld it without welding, as far as im aware no one makes one
Re: McNamara single piece cross shaft - GROUP BUY
Heavy Duty LT 230 Cross Pin
The standard LT230's have a two piece cross pin in the centre diff, this is two shafts with a cut out in the centre so they can overlap.
Last ones I got from McNamara were $150 inc shipping to Qld.
Last I spoke to them they were out of stock and not doing anymore.
Group buy might convince them.
Dan.

$150, is that gold plated. Ashcrofts work out about $72 plus frieght on top. My whole LT230 rebuild kit and cross pin was around $300 landeddck7aok wrote:

This it what it looks like with the new one:
Re: McNamara single piece cross shaft - GROUP BUY
Yes Ashcroft is WAY cheaper.
McNamara will do them at $145 each. Told him that the Ashcroft ones were half the price and he suggested to shop there.
