Gen 1 gearbox compatibility

Post by NCpaj »

Hey fellas...

Well my gearbox finally let go in the paj last night.

back in 2004 i had it neutralize between gears in the middle of a hill climb, Myself and some mates did a dodgy fix and managed to get it driving again albeit with alot more slop between gears with a couple of hammers and some screw drivers.

Being a weekend car never really worried about it till i only had 1st, 3rd and 4th on the way home last night.

Anyway long story short ive been looking at just swapping out the box and it seems (From the tech data base) that any 4cyl manual gearbox from 83-88 will fit.
So does that mean that the diesels run the same ratio'd KM145??

Cheers

I don't know if the diesel box is the same but I've got 2 5 speeds and 2 transfers. Both from 2.6 petrol's.

One is noisy but still drives fine and the other is quiet and drives fine. Pm me if ya want them.
