H260 diff - land anchor?

Post by 91Mav »

G'day fellas,

I'm planning on running a Patrol rear diff on my Hilux and was wondering how the H260's compare with H233's for ground clearance? I'm hoping the housing can be shaved close to the 13.5mm extra radius of the larger centre? Are the housing's the same width?

Thanks,
Josh

Look in memebers for my mq, good shave pics in there. I run a GQ H260

Depends why H260 you get for width.
GQ H260 are about 4" narrower than the coil H233. Only leaf and only drum brakes.
GU H260 is wider but still narrower than the GU H260 coil diff in the wagons. Both leaf and coil, both drum and disc brakes.
GU coil wagon H260 are shaved a little from factory but GQ are a higher spline count.

MQ H260s are crap. To narrow and have brital axles and pinions. Or so I'm told.

in the 4 years i had one in my truck i dont remember once getting out and seeing that i was stuck on my rear diff. I didnt use it for rockcrawling though so it really depends on what the purpose of your patrol is?

i got a h260in the rear of my gu wagon the pumpkin is massive and yes even running 35s it does get hung up mainly deep ruts if not hung up ive digged a nice trench for the next bloke but in saying that the h260 is a 10.25 inch diff now thats bullet proof and ive heard reports of them being shaved up to 18 and 22 mm one bloke on here said his shaved h260 has more clearance than a h233 so in saying h260 and a shave and u be laughing

GU coil H260's are 37 spline semi floating axles and the leaf H260's are 35 spline full floating axles.

Same pinion but everything else is stronger.

I broke 4 H233 axles and tht broke 4 centers on 37s. Ive had my H260 rear for like 4 years I think and have only broke one pinion ( had hit a hill to hard and lifte the whole car and landed 3rd gear full noise, broke both CBS too) and that's is with 40s

The new price at Marks is $950, not $1500
