Toperi Challenge 2012 Rules and Regulations
Driver Check-in
1 To qualify for entry all vehicles MUST have, Original firewall in its original position, Original windscreen surround, Original “A” & “B” pillar in the original position, Original chassis must extend a min 300mm from front of firewall to behind the cab and cannot be altered from factory original width, MUST have opening doors.
2 Rego is not required.
3 All vehicles must have some sort of roll over protection.
4 As of 2013 all competing cars must have a roll cage which must meet CCDA specifications.
5 Drivers and navigators must have helmets and covered-in footwear
6 Drivers and navigators must have gloves
7 Approved (3.2 Ton rated min) recovery points must be fitted to front and rear of vehicle and must use high tensile bolts or be professionally welded on!
8 Vehicle must have fire extinguisher 0.9kg or greater fixed
9 Driver and navigator must present valid driver’s license
10 All soft top vehicles must be fitted with a roll bar and have sheeted roof.(1.6mm steel or 3mm in alloy)
11 All vehicles must have window nets.
12 All competing vehicles must have synthetic winch rope.
Scoring
1 The marshal’s decisions on the day will be deemed final. If any person or persons in a team chooses to abuse any of our officials, it will result in their team and club not being invited to any events run by our club
2 Points will be awarded for each vehicle where it fails to proceed or is called by one of the team.
3 20 points will be lost for each minor safety violation (including not wearing gloves)
4 , all winching will incur a 25 point penalty.
5 There will be a 10 point penalty for every tow recovery from car to car.
6 Not using winch dampers or stepping/jumping over a “live” cable will result in a 50 point safety penalty. (A cable is live once connected to a winch point.) This will be STRICTLY ENFORCED
7 In the event of a tie for 1st place, both teams or cars will drive track 4 again until we have a winner.
8 There will be a maximum of 6 stops per vehicle on each course, ( a stop will be deemed as not moving forward) each stop will be entitled to 1 reverse.
9 There will be a maximum of 5 min stop time per stage.
10 At scrutineering cars will be assessed to determine stop penalties. 42” tyres= 1 stop, , rear steer 1 stop,
11 All cars will be able to start ALL stages.
12 If you are still stuck after 3 attempts you will be out of that stage.
Bonus Lines
There will be bonus sections for all vehicle types, these will be explained in full at drivers briefing.Rules
1 Seat Belts must be worn whilst in vehicle
2 Helmets must be worn whilst in the vehicle
3 Navigator does not have to be in the vehicle at any point
4 Vehicles do not have to finish in order of starting
5 Both vehicles do not have to finish
6 Vehicles can pass each other as long as they remain within the track
7 Breaking of bunting will incur a 20 point penalty
8 Bending more than 45°, breaking, or dislodging bunting post (this includes trees) will incur a 20 point penalty
9 The navigators may move the bunting, but it will incur a 2 point penalty
10 Drivers and Navigators may stack rocks and logs, which are supplied inside of the track, without penalty. Rocks and logs may not be used from out side the course, spare wheels can NOT be used as packing.
11 Only drivers and navigators are allowed on the track (i.e. the 2 drivers, 2 navigators) to pack.
12 If one driver cannot proceed and is timed out he can assist the other members.
13 All team members (drivers, navigators) must start at the ‘start’ position and may not move along the course until the first car has gone over the start line.
14 Track packing may only occur once the first vehicle has past the start.
15 Manpower is not to be used to assist a car in any way, but a car may stabilized by wrapping a rated strap around a post/ tree.
16 Vehicles may not be manhandled.
17 Each vehicle will be given 3 attempts at each obstacle
18 There will be a 3 second count on each attempt, if the driver does not stop he will be DNF and points awarded at that location
19 When a vehicle has been timed out they must stop and leave the track as soon as possible. If they continue the whole team will be disqualified.
20 Vehicles can only winch off designated ‘W’ winch signed points or any point with a marshals approval.
21 All winching and recoveries must be within the track
22 There will be NO SNATCH recoveries between vehicles only use of TOW STRAPS to a MAX length of 5 metres.
23 If the front vehicle has had 3 attempts at an obstacle, is ruled out by an official the second vehicle can go around it as long as he remains within the track
24 If the front vehicle can still move unassisted he can move out of the way (within the track), if not the other car can attempt to go around or tow or winch him backwards out of the way.
25 All teams will self recover, but if recoveries are taking too long or are deemed unsafe, officials will stop the recovery and call in the recovery team
26 Any driver deemed to be driving in a dangerous manner or speeding either on or off the course will be disqualified and the club not be invited back
27 No Quad bikes or Motorbikes Allowed
28 no pets, no fires, fireworks.
This rules and regulations package has been put together so we can expedite Drivers Briefing on the day. Please make sure all team members read it carefully and if they have any questions ask! All vehicles will drive track 4.
Gates open 10.00am to 10pm Friday 6am Saturday onwards
Driver check-in will be from 5.30pm-till late Friday, 7.00am-10.00am Saturday
Driver briefing will be at 8.30am
Start will be at 9.00am if vehicles are not at the starting line when they are called they will not compete unless the starting Marshall has been notified with a legitimate excuse beforehand.
Those who choose to drive in the mud do so because they can't drive the rocks.
