hi i was planning on entering ttc this year as missed out on the last, my cage is 42.3x3.2 and main hoops by 4mm thick all CDS cromo. and meet CAMS and other event runner specks. have sent email to tony hoping!!!!!
but surely this tube quality and wall thickness has to be better than some out there that are only 2mm larger od but not stronger by any means

if the rules say 44.45mmx2.5mm min for main hoops etc and you have 42.3 then really the answer SHOULD be NO as its not to the minimum specs of the rules at which the event is ran under.

Where did you read that cams spec rules state that tube? Both Cams and CCDA use 44.45mmx2.5mm min spec tube.

It would be good if there are major rule changes coming for 2014 that it is flagged up sooner to let people building get it right and for people to plan any changes etc.

G'day Twon,

There will be no major changes at all from 2014. We feel the rules are fair, enforced & consistent throughout.

Also for the critics out their, I will reiterate the following.

* The roll cage rules have not changed since 2005. 1.75"/44.45mm OD - 2.5mm Wall - 350mpa, has always been the minimum spec for the B-pillar.

* Any team that has built a vehicle out of rubbish Black Pipe with view of competing in TT obviously had not even looked at the regulations prior to commencing. For the teams that had built their trucks for an alternate use, we are sorry but changes will need to be made.

* NO CCDA Sanctioned event allows anything less than the above spec.

* The front profile rule was a minor amendment as some teams front end's were becoming unrecognisable.

* Safety is paramount & we have given existing teams ample time to comply. ( there are less than current 15 teams affected by this )

We understand that the hard enforcement of these rules is tough on some, however I know that all TT organisers will sleep well knowing that Duty of Care has been shown in the event that anything horrific ever happened.

We wish all teams the best of luck for 2013, its again shaping up to be another HUGE weekend, with almost 30 nominations in thus far & just on 6 weeks until they close, we are in great stead for a FULL field of 60 Teams.

Regards

I am not going to keep on fueling this any more then this one last question a question I have asked a few times now but never get a reply.

Forget the grandfather B.S. rule. If I was to go out and build a exact replica 100% exactly the same "buggy" as OPWs with its narrower then allowed grill and less chassis then permitted would it be allowed to enter Tuff Truck?

Still barking up that tree hey Dave. Clearly your research is yet again flawed... The OPW Front Profile / Grill is exactly 80% & has been since it was built in 2008! & for the record this question has never been asked before on Outers that I've seen or RR! Feel free to lead me to the thread & I'll be glad to reply.

Toyota FJ40 Grill with Round Headlight's "Fact": Original Grill measures 1000mm in overall width, OPW's Grill is 800mm. = 80%

As for the chassis, read the TT Chassis rule & I'm sure that will answer your question! http://tufftruck.com.au/competitor-info ... gulations/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'll make sure OPW place some padding on the chassis just in case you hit your head on it while measuring it.

Have a look at post #63 http://www.rockracing4x4.com/forums/sho ... ease/page7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have gone back and the time I asked it on here it was taken down before you could see it.

So the factory 40 chassis on your buggy that is at factory width finishes passed b pillar( or as you have said on the rules must go passed the END of the cab)? Hmmm from all the pictures on the net when you google search opw 40 you can see no chassis PASSED the B pillar. You can see that it finishes at the first tube that is the start of your B pillar it clearly dose not go passed the end of the cab.

Yet again Incorrect!! This chassis links in with the most rearward tube, & yes this chassis is past the B-pillar & equal with the extended B-pillar & yes this would be accepted today upon seeking permission from the competition managers.

In the rules we state behind the b-pillar! "i.e. back of cab" is only an example, not a stipulation.

The chassis used in this build is factory width/height/profile etc!

Image

Also you missed a very important rule that effects a number of existing teams prior to 2010. Is this what you call the Grandfather BS Rule?
Note: These chassis rules above have been carefully considered and based around current and previous competing vehicles. However if some of these past vehicles are slightly outside of these guidelines, we have made the conclusion that these vehicles have no competitive advantage and will be accepted.

Any person that is actually planning to build a vehicle for TT or in the process has already been in contact with us to clarify many rules & in general just ask relevant questions to themselves.

I find your motive is purely an attempt to discredit Australia's Biggest 4WD Event & some particular teams.

P.S. Just for the record - nothing here has been taken down except some information regarding access to the TTC site which members of the general public did not need to know. Other than that, we did lose a number of posts/threads in recent crashes.
