79 series diff ratios

Post by jenno »

Was just wondering if anyone has an idea or spec sheet to tell me wat diff ratios I have in my 2001 79 series ute with a 1hz motor. And then which way I would have to go with ratios to run 35s as if they were the standard tire size 7.5x16 tire????
Cheers

you will have 4.11, its on your engine bay ID plate.

I wouldn't bother changing ratios for 35s

Being a 1 hz the ratios should be 4:3 , the factory turbo is 4:11

I don't think so Toby, 4.11 is standard across almost all Toyota pickups

Didn't only the 100 series come out with 4.3 ratio?

79x with a 1hz will have diff ratios of 4:3
79x with a 1hdgte will have 4:1
75x, 6ox, 47x ect all have 4:1
70x v8 have a ratio of 3:9

I have been through this discussion on lcool a while ago and also when I sold a centre to a fella with a 79 x fte.

Until I'm proven wrong these are the figure I have experienced.

Also on the compliance plate they have different numbers for the diffs.

I agree with tobie except for the older series (60 etc)
I have always been told that they are 4.11 ( 37/9 ring/pinion)
