Replaced the injectors on my 97 GQ 2.8TD today. Noticed the injector 'seat area' was clean as awhistle on cylinder 1, but sooted uo quite a bit on the remaining 5. Vehicle has 100,000klm on the clock and I have owned it from new. Its well maintained and not flogged.
Should I be doing anything to stop this or is it simply 'what can happen? Vehicle is rarely driven also.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Inside the firing chamber you mean? I hope it's not being steam cleaned

The pocket where the injector screws into was clean and soot free. You have me worried now as the vehicle did get very hot one day a couple of weeks ago - just after New Years when the temps were circa 45 deg - started to lose power, sounded like it was running on 4 cylinders, but as soon as I sprayed a fine mist on the radiator and lifted the bonnet to get rid of the heat, it returned to normal running. Its running as good as ever right now, but will check the oil and radiator just the same.
