Roof rack differences been 100s GXL and Sahara

Post by shorty_f0rty »

Hey,

I ordered a Bajarack roof rack for my 2003 100 series sahara and discoverd the front most mounts are approximately 200mm further back from where the roof rack expects them to be.

Does anyone have any specific details on the locations of the roof rack bolt holes so I can help Bajaracks (made in Mexico) make the right brackets to suit?

And another question, does the GXL have a smaller gab between bolts on the front passanger side or are they the same as all the others? I ask because I got one mount spaced differently to the rest and am wondering if this is intentional or not.

Any info is appreciated..

Andrew

So apparently there are 3 more bolts in the roof line further forward of whats visible. it requires cutting into the channel to access.

Position of the forward roof bolts can be seen here:

If the Sahara has a sunroof that might explain the bolts further back, this is to avoid putting stress on the roof turret where it has been weakened by the sunroof.

This is my 2003 HDJ100R GXL roof.

For my roof rack(Powerful 4x4) I use the 3 pop-out caps i have put a yellow box around. 2 of them are shorter and have 2 bolts. the longer middle one has 3 bolts

Te powerful bar just uses brackets that pickup 2 bolts in each slot.

I haven't taken out the plastic strip to see if there are more bolt holes under there further forward as indicated by your photo.

all 100 series have 4 sets of bolts. The front plastic trim pops out

(oh, and they like to leak so waterproof them)

Looks like you picked up a nice one Andrew! Jealous of your bar and snorkel < I think ray will have a play with that. Looks like it was worth paying a little extra for.
