if it is now overfueling, then maybe the fuel governing diafragm in the rear of the fuel pump is shagged. they perish if they get too much oil blown in from the manifolf. about $100 bucks from any diesel fitter. mine went in the bush and the revs just kept climbing. good luck. if it is just that you want to run a little leaner then it is the upper outer screw on the rear of the pump. need a special tool.

disclaimer: at your own risk:

you can use a chisel to loosen and subsequently remove the special nut, and replace it with a regular nut, it's M10x1.5 from memory.

but if it's overfuelling at idle (smoking, revs climbing) it is more than likely the diaphragm as has been stated. new diaphragm will fix it. check this first.

If you need to adjust the max fuel nut, the genuine tool was cheap as last time we got one for work.

But they were still ex Japan from memory
The old Luxy was fun, but with a young family comes great responsibility.
So I swapped it for a 60. Should be able to take the whole mob camping, plus I got an extra gear, 2 less cylinders and A/C.

i made a tool in about 20minutes

got a bit of 30x6mm flat bar, drilled (i think) a 10mm hole in one end, drilled two about 3mm holes at the right centres around the larger hole to pickup the two pin holes in the nut, used two high tensile screws and put a blob of weld on the back.
