Got a call from macquarie. Noisey Transfer gears in low range when backed off throttle is worn input and output bearings. Too much endfloat allowing gears to slightly touch.

They said they havent had a GU2 opened up that has done as many thousand kms in 4wd that mine has.

Oil has been clean and changed more than recommended by nissan

Nissan want $600 for the 2 bearings.. Ouch...

They are sourcing the bearings directly from SKF or Nachi (Sp) themselves...

The bearings will probably be half the price going direct, I had a inner front wheel bearing crap itself this arvo. Last time I stupidly went to Repco, they had to order them in and they cost me something like $100 for the 2 wheel bearings, the oil seal and the needle bearing that holds the axle stub right next to the CV. This time I went to Bearing Wholesalers, and got all of the same bits for $66 and they had them on the shelf, and the car is now fixed and rolling again. Lesson learned by me. :D

lol, i can't wait. It was actually in much better than the one I replaced last time. Only took me an hour and a half, and no grinder needed 8) It was my fault, I should have replaced it when i did the other side to be sure. But I had things to do that were more fun

Well we were fortunate enough to enjoy a day up at the Watagans today. Good to report that there were no recently burnt out areas, but it does look as if the fires have been thru on the last 6 months in places...

I did manage to push the drivers side sill in a little in a decent sized rut... first carnage to the GQ... damn I need a lift and protection. :?

you ought to know better, every one knows a new car is like a new woman, the first thing you gotta get is some decent protection :finger:

LOL... I know, I'm just so keen to get out an drive that i can't wait for all the mods to be done... I'm having a ball anyway and sure do have a better appreciation for what a stock GQ can do. Pretty damn impressive.

The Bridgestone ATs aren't too shabby a tyre either...

I hope to be getting the lift and protection in the next month or so.
