Post by MQ080 »

Is there a test for the 79 series 1HZ factory fitted snorkel in regards to air leaks? ...apart from running the engine in reverse :D

Stop the air flow going in with a rag or similiar and if it's leaking it will suck-in air in the leak in the engine bay and you should hear this sucking. If there is no leak the motor will strugglke to run.

Pull said snorkle off truck

Put silicone on EVERY join you can see, then try the test again.

They are NOT a wading snorkle, theyre only a dust snorkle

frucking useless concept if you ask me

dont use silicon use sicaflex (marine grade) this is way better and will not separate from the plastic under vibration or at high and low temps

spray pure oxygen or no2 around all the joins and if the engine revs increase then there is leak.

did Len P give you the 79!! no way!

like the others have already said, the factory snorkels are not waterproof and they are pretty difficult to get waterproof. lots of sikaflex or just don't go into deep water.
