so is Strangerover the first in aus to run the krawlers .............
Dan
some dude in the winch challange had them at booral (SP?)
I cannot be a hundred percent certain but I doubt the ones at the winch challenge are COMPETITION KRAWLERS.
If they were brought here in Aus they are mostly the street compound krawler - same tread pattern as the comp krawlers just a different compound.
Sam's (sorry BJ's) krawlers are US comp compound krawlers, in fact they were used by Tracey Jordan at the last supercrawl ( how's that for COOL)!!!
So yes Sam is the first to run them but at the moment they are still BJ's (for the time being)

I had Gonads over a few months back, and I was a bit worried, he stayed downstairs with big Nev.
There was lots of grunting that night, but I stayed upstairs, I didn't want to know!!

It really was a great event - Daves XRCC's just keeps getting better and better. This would have to be the best one yet.
Congrats to Dave and Greg on winning the event. Its a fantastic result (for them ) and really demonstrates how good a builder Dave is and how good a team Dave and Greg are out on course. Daves rig doesent read as anything incredibly special but just works awesome. Hasnt got massive flex, tyres, horse power or gearing but overall a really well balanced machine. Its had enough of everything to be consistant enough in all the courses to take the win.
For me in the Lockless I would have loved the courses to have been a bit harder and more up hill (both Saturdays courses were down hill and Sundays courser were on flat ground without any difficult climbs) In all the courses I really suffered from lack of belly clearance and lack of articulation. I managed to drive around most of the lack of articulation problems I had (amazing how far you can drive on three wheels - the traction control was working overtime) but really came unstuck in the forth stage with my belly clearance problems. After this weekend Im going to lift the Lockless some more and put in some softer springs. ATM its really setup as a hill climbing thrashing machine and not so much as a crawler so Im going to change things around a bit. Still an awesome fun machine to drive though and makes the Mogrover feel like overgrown soggy slug to drive.
Looking at the individual course scores I think that the DNF penalites are a bit harsh. Both Adrian and Rod (especially Rod) produced some really competitive scores but each had a simple early DNF in a stage that totally blew them out of the competition points wise. Getting 300 and 400 + penality points on a single stage in an event where the winner finishes with less than 100 points seems a bit unbalanced. Dont know what can be done to change this. I think that the US points system works so much better in this regard where they have a much lower maximum DNF penality. Other issue is that I dont think that we are running enough courses to even out lucky or unlucky stage results. The US guys are running 10 courses each and we are only doing the 4. Biggest issue here is the required man power needed to run the extra courses. I think this is something that we should be working towards though - would mean a lot more driving for the competitors as well which would also be a good thing.
Overally though - the best XRC yet. Rockcrawling as a 4wd sport is going to be massive in the next few years. I carnt wait.
