US$275 delivered via surface mail. Roughly AU$400. Much better than the $646 advertised locally. Can you say "Price gouge"?

I rang them last night and they had two in stock. Already ordered it . I'm 500km from you so it's probably not worth splitting the shipping. It's only about $30 surface mail.

if you can set up a diff properly you can install a lockrite , by properly i mean back lash, tooth contact and bearing preload.
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

you dont need to do any of this when installing a lock-rite if you mark all adjusting nuts/bolts and put it back together in the same way.
the lock-rite replaces your spider gears so you just need to fit it inside carrier and put it back together, they come with instructions, simple.

but if he chooses to change his bearings at the same time he will need to reset everything , if not than you are correct , maybe i should have explained it better as i did on the other thread (backlash for mini spool)

let us know how it goes with the lock rite in the front

I chucked one in the front of my 60 a couple of months ago.
Overall its pretty good, I say this first.. :)
If your accellerating suddenly or/and changing gears, it will bite and your steering gets pulled left momentarily (in my case anyway). I was like WTF at first, easily accounted for in driving style. I drive like its sunday every day anyway.
I found at the right speed I got the odd bounce with the small movement in my steering.. just had to speed up/slow down a little did not concern me.
At one stage I had my steering almost locked and i found i couldnt move the steering at all, and had to back up a little.. a feeling I wasnt used to although I was coming out of a creek up a mound to get around another car.. not a worry, just backed up a little.
I think if your not doing some hard rocks your probably not going to do your CV in as it seems to happen, I think if your planning going over some mad granite just go an air locker - I believe you can get air lockers from the US also.
They say you can install it but you want to be real sure your diff is within tolerances, and on a 78 I am sure its gonna be near new but my ol 60 needed shims. The diff lapper guy said the diff had been reconed once before and probbaly not done very well (front diff also, how much work could it get day to day)..
Theres another thread here where someone lost the rear diff and just gave up driving home with only the front, too painful.
So the real price it cost me was $595 from 4wdsystems + $650 (mechanic and diff lapper.. got some other small work done also by the mechanic aswell...). Probably best do do as much as you can youself if you can.
Hope this helps.

Yeah! Looking at the postage mark, they didn't post it until 6 weeks after the order. I rang Rocky Road a couple of times - man, they got some dopey people workin the phones there.
Did'nt pay any tax or duty though, and I didn't need it straight away. So not dramas. Less than 400 Oz pesos to my door.

airlocker is a bit cheaper, from roadless it's 'bout AUD$950 instead of 1200 or 1300, but once u factor in freight and customs/tax it's not really worth it. might be cheaper sights out there tho
but for the auto locker, we saved at least $200
