Was talking to someone today and he had heard 160kw was the power output but knew no more.
I would think that it will be the same engine as the prado.
Its about time they got a V6 its about there biggest downfall they have allways suffered.

V8 would be soooooooo good.

I don`t think they`d be dumb enough to use the 3.0. But then again they are dumb enough to put IFS in and say it is better

What about the drive train? I`d guess its the same as the turboed ones.

I have riden in plenty of IFS Lux`s and they are worse then my lux in rid comfort.

Haven`t riden in a current one but, only the 89 to 97 one.

Plus on top of that WE are the only ones that SHOULD matter

V6

Post by slowhilux »

Yeah its the same motor as the Prado, BUT, they "detune" it so to speak. It has different cams, different intake/exhaust ports and the ECU maps are different, to make this motor a more usable motor in a ute (ie, to carry loads/tow, its the motor is working alot less harder to produce the torque/power earlier), a lazy motor. Toyota have done this often with a variety of motors.

What you want to get your hands on is the new 2003 Prado 4.0L V6.....mmmm......183kw......and nearly 400nm......stump puller of a V6!!!

Oh, and the manual V6 Hilux is using the R150F gearbox....nice and bomproof .

PS....this is copied straight from the thread i wrote on Snake
