Moisture in Air Cleaner Cover

Post by GQAndrew »

Hi,

Was inspecting the main air cleaner (NOT Precleaner) yesterday, and noticed that there appeared to be some moisture inside the housing, which seemed to be very greasy. Then inspecting into the neck, where the housing attached to the engine, there seemed to be a lining of grease around the join. Does this sound OK, or should all the internals of this cover be bone dry?

I have been through some water lately, but not high enough to get into engine, and the filters are a little dirty, but not really any sign of water.

Thanks

Andrew

definately not water, you have to wipe your finger on it to pick it up, its not running around or anything.
Definately more like an oily film.

Why do you get an oily film in there?

Thanks :)
