well..... for any vic boys intersted it looks like about $250 to fly there and back...
and $40 a day for car hire
camping for 2/3 nights
food and beer...

most probably all up around $500 - $600 for the w/e.... not too bad for a whole w/e worth of entertainment

Aww what you do that for?

After looking at these pics, I'm really disappointed that i can't make it. I was going to fly up on REX credits (i had about $800 worth of tickets that I never used) but have been given some crap story from REX about different fares and zones so it would apparently cost an extra $1,200 on top of my credits. :bad-words:

Looks like it will be a great event, good work to the blokes organising it and putting extreme crawling in the spotlight.

The Rock is slippery only due to a fine layer of dust on it (hence the wheel spin), also it is VERY VERY STEEP so some wheel spin is going to happen anyway.

There was one or two areas where we drove a few times and removed all the loose dust, we were still spinning due to how steep it is!

The courses are rock just as POS says. They are grippy but there is a layer of dirt upon the crests of the climbs. Even if we have a lot of rain and the dirt is washed away, then the climbs will still need lots of throttle. A car like mine has very little chance of being competitive on this terrain as it doesn't have the power to weight ratio of the buggies. The throttle is needed otherwise you just sit and spin. Inertia is required to start the vehicle climbing. But because of the steepness, you can't rely on a runup so you must build on what momentum you have as you start to climb and thus accelerate up the climb.

As for my damage, a section of my tray will have to be replace where the tube distorted as well as the plan brace over the roof as I rolled onto a large rock. Also cracked a windscreen as well. Minor dents in the barwork all round the cab but the structure held up well.

Can't wait to try it again
