Oil filter should be about $5 from kmart/repco etc. Use a decent oil like Penrite HPR Diesel and you should be sweet and make sure you change it every 5,000km!.

My 2L Engine uses 7 litres of oil, so check with you handbook first.. id doubt the sump size would be any different as they are the same engine, yours is just turbo..
Cheers,
Dan.

The Oil Filter is not a Z9. I got lead to believe that when I went to purchase one when I did my 1st Service on mine, Its what the catelogues say in the shops. I got home drained the oil to find out that it isnt a Z9. Lucky I was able to call someone to pick a correct filter up for me. Cant remember which one it is but costs bout $25. And they do take about 4.5 L of oil

Hey
Oil filter should be a Z334 can use ryco or many other brnds i use osaka seems to help keep oil pressure and things better.
i rekn the 2lt would use more that 4.5L mine uses 6.8L and me nate has a 2.4t and uses the same just check dont wanna run out of oil.
Penrite oil is the best try using japantruck 15 from penrite its very good for cleaning and helps the truk run smooth done 35000ks using it reduces blowby and seems to give a bit more power.

I changed my oil last week...I know I put a Z9 on it and I know I still have some oil left in the 5 litre oil container I bought.

2Lt takes 7.5ltrs oil. They like the Penrite HPR Diesel.
The correct Oil Filter for it is generally the Z334 ( Around the $30 mark)

If you need further information on the motor go to
www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum

Same motor in the early Surfs.
