Hey, I was just wondering on peoples opinion on fitting 7.50/16s under a stock Disco? I've got a set of old olympic steeltreks kicking round, that I'm thinking about mounting up as the bush tyres (the stock 205/80s are shite- bugger all diff clearance). but I just want to know they'll clear the guards first.... Anybody have any experience upsizing tyres on a S1 Disco?
If not the 7.50s what then??

Stock S1 Disco- 7.50/16 tyres?
Moderator: Micka
In fact the common 31' x 10.5 will be too big!
We put them on a stock 4 door and they rubbed every where.
Even with raised springs 764 Rear/stock rears in the front they still rubbed on the rear of both the front and rear body panels. Had to cut a bit out [not much] you could neatly fold some around - but neat isn't my game
I think the 10.5's are just to wide - might get away with the height on a narrower tyre...
A friend has 32's on a stock disco with taller springs AND a body lift! Too much work for 32" tyres - its just not worth it...
Bodge says - cut the panels

Cheers fellas!
Yeah, it seems the width is the big issue. that's why the 10.50s dont' go well. I did a bit of looking, and found that 7.50, (or the metric equiv of 235/85R16) will need a bit of trimming of the rear arch....
info from disco web on the topic
(Oh, it's a 4 door)

It was my knowledge that the Camel Discos had 7.50x16 tires, Michelin X series to be exact, and that was done by a smallish lift of HD LR springs to cope with the weight and shaving the rear quarters a bit.
I am planning on putting some 7.50x16 Michelin XS on one of my Discos that is currently stock...will revert back to you ASAP

I have been told (by someone who should know) that 7.50's (provided they are on a rim with the right offset) will just fit on a std rangie without trimming/lifting, so the same should apply to a disco. Remember that 235's are over 2" wider than a 7.50.

Yeah,
I think that any 7.50x16 tire can fit on either the RR/Disco with a stock offset wheel and a wee bit of trimming to the rear quarter panels on Discos...
Will confirm soon...
