I am doing a RUF at the moment and have not decided on shocks. Will a shock with about 581 open and 349 closed fit into the front stock location? and a shock with 590 open and 357 closed fit into the rear? First up I will not be moving the shock tower F or R.
I am running 2" springs rear all round with about 30-35 extended shackles. I have found that the bump stops now a good distance away and although not tried hard but a wheel a foot in the air does not touch the pad. . would I need to extend the bump stops? If so how much and where can I get them from. This is with no rear shocks attached.
springs drilling... when taking the overload leaf did you just replace the welded pin from the overload leaf with a HT bolt and nylock? I will be moving the center mount as well for the RUF.
cheers

So you are doing a RUF but don't want longer shocks to allow for the added wheel travel plus you are moving the axle back to stock position by redrilling the centre hole. So why are doing the RUF?
vitarajim wrote:Why do it then? The extra flex generated with the flatter, longer springs in the front will just put the wheel into the firewall won't it?
Rear springs are in. Fronts probably theis weekend. Looking at welding and bolting plates onto the chassis for the spring mount and then drill the springs to move the diff as per the RRO kit. I did not get hold of wolverine last weekend. A big pain in the a$%. So doing it myself at the moment.
PM me the details of the mounts :-)
cheers

Do you know about the springs drilling... when taking the overload leaf did you just replace the welded pin from the overload leaf with a HT bolt and nylock? I will be moving the center mount as well for the RUF.

Well I don't know what you mean. Why do you need to redrill the spring? My understanding is that the hole should line up in the stock position. I haven't got my springs yet so I haven't had a look at it yet but I would imagin that I will use the bolt that comes with it or just hitensile nylock it. My car won't be ready until the 14th so you can see it at katies gorge run. I don't think I will have the time to make other parts before then

When you install the RUF the front axle moves forward with the new plates because of the length of the spring. This is the case with the RRO kit anyway, going to try it out this weekend.
I need to get shocks this week as the zook is running at the moment with no rear shocks as they were not long enough. :(
I have found that landcruiser shocks are loong enough with 613 extend and 363 compressed and hilux for the front with 577 extend and 340 comp. These may be wrong way round with the cruiser in the front.
