removal of ecu

Post by bugz »

ok in "ecu diagram" you said to rip out the ecu and put a full mechanical pump in, is that all i have to do or is there more involved? the engine is a 2.4ltr turbo diesel from a 1993 hilux surf and is going into bunderra 1985 model with standard g52 manual box i've been told i need to change bellhousing and flywheel and pressure plate as i'm changing from petrol to diesel. that i understand. what i dont understand is how the injectors are going to work without a ecu to instruct them any comments greatly appreciated.

I think the ECU only controls the pump (cold running, Max fuel, ect) The injectors may still be of mechanical type.....Check the injectors on the engine that the pump is off and see if they are the same...

yes what Dazz said, the ECU in those setups only controls the fuel pump, the injectors are still the old school mechanical type.
