XRCC Round 3
Just a quick note re spectators:- The office staff know at all times where the event area is going to be. You will find that I give the office a marked map of where the days competition will be held, so it is up to you to read your map to get to the area. As for the competitors they are told at the briefing where the competition area is for that day.
If in doubt & all else fails see MMM or call him on UHF 11 and all will be revealed, yet again.
Regards David (MMM)
Unfortunatley i'm not going to make it to round 3,As i still have'nt had a chance to repair my buggy and also my tow rig after PUOSU,And at the moment i can't afford it.
So to all that are going GOOD LUCK and have fun.

That's not good news to hear mate, sounds like a really costly bill for repairs.
We'll be there once again - camera in hand - looking forward to this final round for 2004, should be some really hot action as overall 2004 series champion placing is up for grabs! Bring it on!
Built, not bought.
Basically my Back is pretty well screwed after my little tumble at PUOSU.
I thought i read somewhere in a post that PUOSU went without a hitch and no injurys ......................yet its organiser is injured enough not to be able to compete in another comp a few weeks later
So has the jekyll received more bracin across its lid to stop bumps like this happenin again

It has nothing to do with the Bracing across the roof at all, in fact the roof was not the issue. But you seem to know so much about the design maybe you could build one and show us how its done!!!!
I can tell you know that the Jekyll would be by far the safest buggy (competitive 4wd) around.
And i never said that PUOSU went of without a hitch or no injury's!
If your so dedicated and tuff then why don't you bring the Mav up and fill in my spot at XRCC!
I'll clear this up.
There were no hassle's or injuries at PUOSU.
What everone has to know is that we are driving these buggy's with hard plastic seats that have no padding at all.
But when you take a tumble like adrian did on saturday, you tend to land very bloody hard and the buggy's have no give in them, especially when your sitting in a hard plastic seat that is fixed to the buggy frame. You tend to become the frame. So in adrians defence, there were no hassle's or injuries at PUOSU.
He has noticed it after the event.
I give a big to adrian and everyone else that helped organise this event,if it was'nt for the dedicated few we would not have it....
Jamie
P.S
Sorry Dave for highjacking your thread, but people have to put in there place,Especially when they don't even come to events they just sit around and talk crap online....

If the JEKYLL is so safe then how come u cant compete because of an injury which occured in the rig .....did the roof not compress down and hit your head ??????which may have caused the back prob???? If this aint the case fair enough i'll take your call n shut up .........
I only said i thought i read it some where obviuosly i was wrong if u did not say it .......................
Where did i say i knew so much bout the design ...its only common sense if the prob above was caused by wat i said that it would need more bracin to stop it happenin in the future.........
Ive neva said that i am a betta driver than any 1 in the MAV (fuk ive neva really driven it for christ sake) so y would i want to take your spot n where did i day that it was TUFF?????
Why wen some1 voices there opinion to you reagardin any topic u seem to think its a time to FLAME ........u done it in the PUOSU thread n here u go again.............
And Jamie I aint even gunna waste my time replyin toyour comments ...........

This injury would have occured in any Rig!
As WE explore and drive further, higher and harder, minor incidents and injuys are gauranteed to happen!
The guys in the states have rigs that are probably twice as strong as our buggies yet there are nemerous concussions and injuries at each and every comp! Thats what happens when the LIMITS are pushed!
I can guarantee you that if you put so much time and effort into ORGANISING an event than you would also defend it if someone was having a go!!!!
As Jamie said, it has nothing to do with the ROOF at all!!! It was the plastic racing seat (that the majority of competitors use) slapping against may back which caused some swelling! I have already purchased a $1200.00 Racing seat to rectify this problem! The Frame is still 100% perfect!

Nah, i don't think so. At the end of the day i still have the choice to say "fark That" and take the easier/safer line!
Yeah biut then we are going to laugh at you and call you big girly skirt.
And Daniel
I was'nt aiming that directly at you,But it does get a little frustrating when you continually get people bagging you or saying they would have done it this way or that way.

Just to try and clear up a few things about the saftety of these buggies. Jamies comments are totally correct (and why Danial said "And Jamie I aint even gunna waste my time replyin toyour comments ..........." I have no idea - and I guess neither does Danial). The buggy frames are very stiff and the plastic seat is hard mounted to this frame so that we do get a bit of jaring through the seat. We have all noticed this in the tube buggies and we have been talking about getting better seats for a while (we almost put one in the Budgie but ran out of time).
The issue about Adrians roof getting dented is also another valid point. I think in the PUOSU rules there is a minimum thickness for the roofs (something like 3mm AL or 1.6mm steel) that we should all be following. Bracing isnt the issue here - Adrians frame hasnt been distorted at all (although it does have a few dents in it) and neither was Rods for that matter.

I wasnt goin to reply to Jamies comments because there was n injury occured at the event yet Jamie stated there wasnt i wasnt goin to argue the point any further ..................
And i was referin to the roof section NOT the FRAME ...... ..... with how you guys up there are expandin the sport i would hate to have som1 seriously injured in a comp like this and then risk the likelyness of these style comps not being a regular attraction AROUND australia.....
I was in no way baggin the design otha than if the roof did get dented in enough to say hit ther drivers head that maybe a few diagonal bracin supports would help overcome which may be a very serious injury .......to more so stop any rocks protrudin far enough in to be a concern or cause injury ........
And yes im sure the plastic solid mounted seats transmit every bump ......and in turn ova a long weekend of competin by the followin days im sure u know about it .....which by the sounds is POS's case .....
I understand y youse are all defendin each other and the amounts of safety that youse have included in the design ....u all want this style of comp to take off n dont get me wrong so do i ............ the more events to spectate whether it be in person or ova the net by viewin the pics n vids on OUTERLIMITS the betta ...........
I have neva under-estimated that youse up there can build badass rigs /buggies aswell as back up with some awesome drivin ability ....the lockless / Jekyll/ and now the budgie are all examples of a new buggy to tkae out n event at its maiden voyage ............
I opologise if my first intial post seemed as tho i was havin a go at you guys ..........aS I DIDNT MEAN FOR IT TO COME OVA THAT WAY i was just tryin to add that this may rectify the prob of eva happenin again........ well wat i thought caused Adrians back prob .....and that as i stated i thought i had read somewhere that it was mentioned that there was no injuries at this event ............
