I've got a couple of mufflers off 60 and 80 series diesel that will do the job that you can have for nix, you know where I live - if you want them I'll just leave them out the front.

PS good work ;)

peoples, after talking to a few mechanics about key bangers, i have been told you can blow head gaskets this way, have seen the headgasket go straight after one, and wasnt he pissed.

Sounds odd to me because the unburnt fuel will be pumped into the headers so shouldn't pose any real threat upon the engine itself IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong.

well im only saying what ive been told my a few mechanics, and by a few, i mean 4 mechanics,

it came up, when i borrowed a mates VH commo, and it blew the head gasket while i was out, Hes a mechanic, so i took it to his work, and he diagnosed the prob, was the headgasket, via "extreem" moisture pissing out the exhaust, and the bloke who he work with, were saing that i had been doing keybangers, which i wassnt, and they informed me, that it can be a cause for head gasket failure.

i guess if the unburnt fuel ignites as far up the exaust and into the head itself (just past the exaust valves) that'd be a fair wallop of pressure that the head gasket wasn't designed for

key bangers

Post by SiKiD_01 »

i think the 'key' to a good loud key banger, is for the engine to be deccelerating from fairly high revs.

i once did one by accident, when i ran out of fuel at about 70-80km/h.
didnt bother to put the clutch in, and for some stupid reason, tried to start the piece of cr@p up again.

basically the same thing thing happened to my standard vitara muffler. blew it wide open.

and now with a more flowing exhaust system, and larger rear section (cat back 2.25"), the bangs arent as loud anymore, so i dont even worry about trying them.

do you think it would be silly of me to remove my muffler & put a piece of pipe in its place? it is a 2 & 1/4" and i think it would sound sweeet!!! but i might attract to much attention to myself

thought about that. but a mate of mine said i might lose compression in the engine. i found that hard to believe, but you can never be sure so i posted in tech.

yar as good as it does sound, i have to be careful. Whenever i see a cop i drive in a gear higher then normal or dont accelerate at all if possible.
