Exhaust / Extractors for GQ on gas
Exhaust / Extractors for GQ on gas
How much should I pay for a decent exhaust / extractors set up for my 94 Mav dual fuel??? Is there enough extra power to make it worth it?
When you get it done check the specs of the extractors as some are made for top end power and some for torque. If you're in the bush alot you want torque and this may explain why some have had no noticable top end improvement with their new extractors.
I did the extractors and a 2 1/2 in mandrel bent system on my 3.0l petrol and the low down performance has increased substantially and more than overcome the loss I got from fitting the 33" Coopers onto it. It used to struggle at low revs now it just plods along.
Also a K&N cleanable filter.

From what i have heard, if you go LARGER than 2 1/2, you start to lose bottom end.....

I used Unique Exhausts in Bayswater, do a lot of comp trucks.
Pacemakers, 2 1/2" Press Bends and Stainless Straight through muffler dearer but will last with Comps and hard 4x4 use. My last GQ use to eat mufflers from revving hard and then engine braking.
Dynoed on the weekend. Std had 55 KW at the wheels. Electronic Ignition and new exhaust = 70kw at the wheels. Not mallacca horsepower but actual.
Dearer for the system but well worth it.

Nice gain, how much was the system and what headers did you use?
How much was the Electronic Ignition?
