Hello,

I am interested to ask if anyone can give me some idea on a rumbling noise that i am getting from the Clutch / Engine. The noise will happening if the car is stationary or moving.

If I press the clutch and rev the engine on the decrease of revs i get a rumbling sound that is really bothering me. It started a month ago and i have had the clutch replaced and this has not resolved this issue. It appears to be more of an engine sound than clutch any ideas ?

I know it is kinda general but thought someone may be able to help.

Was the thrust bearing replaced when the clutch was done...?

(Its not uncommon for this to appear alright at time of change, & for it to be re-used, but if the pedal free-play is not re-set after the replacement of the main clutch parts, additional back-pressure can result in the bearing being kept under load (as if driving with foot on pedal..), & can lead to subsequent failure of the bearing)

May not be this, but worth checking the front crank pulley too...

....Have seen these come loose after timing belt replacement/incorrect torque on bolt afterwards, & they can mash the woodruff key, allowing the timing to slip back one tooth-worth on overrun.....leads to valve chatter (as they hit piston crowns...!!!) & all sorts of weird noises..! The 2.5 L/R 110/90 diesel fitted with power steering was good at this because they have this poxy damn arrangement of 2 woodruff keys inline on the crank, & of these, one & a half is used by the timing tooth, leaving half a key to take the torque of the damper wheel & pulleys.....so the bolts got to be at 200 lbs or so .......or else..!! (We've got the T-shirt...& the bits...!!)

...And found we were on of many down here....(had to change the crank/bearings & all on this one...) who'd found this out...

But 'roldIT's suggestion of the balancer could be more your ones problem as its a later engine...?
