Post by RockhamptonZOOK »

Excuse my ignorance, but I am currently running ser3 RH gears and was wondering how one goes about changing their diff ratios? Is it difficult? Does anyone have a link showing how its' done?

A diff set up is a PITA, need to get R&P, since its apart you may as well change pinion barings & carrier barings, pinion crush sleave, mechanics blue, a dial indicator & some string and an accurate set of "fishermans" scales.

You then need to f$%k around for ages getting preload, shim thichness, tooth depth and placement correct, pinion crush sleave will probably get buggered the first time you try a setup and will then need another one...

Its cheaper and easier to go to your diff and trans specialist.
You can save $$$ by providing the diff center allready pulled out

IF you are going to weld your diff AND it does not need new parts then its pretty easy as no dimentions change as you are using all the origional components

1 method on how to weld:- http://www.island4x4.com/4x4tech/axle/w ... index.html

Use this as a base for disassemble & reassemble if you are gonna weld as per above method.
