Check the internal O rings.

The release valve is usually on the compressor tank. The air from the compressor flows straight through the valve when engaging, then when dis-engaging, exhausts from a third port on the valve. The valve might need replacing. If its leaking at the bulkhead fitting on the diff, check to make sure that the olive is fitted properly on the end of the plastic hose. This creates an air-tight fitting at the bulkhead fitting on the diff.

the bulkhead connection is fine, I've taken the diff out and reconnected the airlines and the air is coming out of a small threaded hole on the air input side :x

the hole is on the actual locker casing inside the diff, there are 3 bolts, the air input pipe and the threaded hole where the air is pissing out. If the air is ment to release on the solenoid then it must be the o rings, thanx for all the help dudes.........

On the subject of air lockers, a mate has an ARB compressor, second hand and in bits. Is the compressor side of the valve marked number 1 or number 2? I tried it with number 1 fitted to the air compressor and it leaked like mad so I assumed it was back to front but now we are not so sure.
Thanks in advance,
CJ

If its one of the older style solenoid valves ( blue valve body with black solenoid top) then when the solenoid is actuated--ie engaged, air flows from port 1 through to port 2. When disengaged--air flows from the cylinder in the diff center, back into port 2 and exhausts out of port 3--the port on the long side of the valve body. Should be able to confirm valve holds air when disengaged by blowing through port 1 or valve sticking--possibly seals may be leaking due to being contaminated with diff oil....

Thanks Grimbo. The lad has got another solenoid for his new front locker so we shall compare apples with apples and see what we get.
