Air Locker trouble-not holding air, any ideas
Air Locker trouble-not holding air, any ideas
hi there all, I just put a second hand locker already in a diff housing in my MK when i hit the air it won't stop coming out what i assume is the release valve near the air input on the actual locker.....stuck in the release position? any help would be most aprec......tah
I've got a WEAPON OF MOSS DETRUCTION
The release valve is usually on the compressor tank. The air from the compressor flows straight through the valve when engaging, then when dis-engaging, exhausts from a third port on the valve. The valve might need replacing. If its leaking at the bulkhead fitting on the diff, check to make sure that the olive is fitted properly on the end of the plastic hose. This creates an air-tight fitting at the bulkhead fitting on the diff.

On the subject of air lockers, a mate has an ARB compressor, second hand and in bits. Is the compressor side of the valve marked number 1 or number 2? I tried it with number 1 fitted to the air compressor and it leaked like mad so I assumed it was back to front but now we are not so sure.
Thanks in advance,
CJ

If its one of the older style solenoid valves ( blue valve body with black solenoid top) then when the solenoid is actuated--ie engaged, air flows from port 1 through to port 2. When disengaged--air flows from the cylinder in the diff center, back into port 2 and exhausts out of port 3--the port on the long side of the valve body. Should be able to confirm valve holds air when disengaged by blowing through port 1 or valve sticking--possibly seals may be leaking due to being contaminated with diff oil....
