Engineers?

Post by Barathrum »

What engineers have people had dealings with? I need an engineer to approve the mods to my zook. I’d like to hear people’s feed back regarding any engineers that has approved mods to their vehicles. I’m located near wagga but I’m prepared to travel some distance if it means dealing with an engineer that has experience with modified vehicles.

always best to approach engineer before you start mods, then you work together for best results, many engineers shy away from vehicles already modded, as they don't really know what has been done, christover

Ray Cross at Lismore is the bloke who is certifying my truck atmo. He was the nearest to me so I've been ringing him as I've been doing mods, based on what I've heard other people have done to their fourbys and had engineered.
Right from the start he said he did not like 4x4's and would not approve 35 inch tyres but I pressed ahead anyhow cos a few people said he was a good bloke to deal with.
He rang me other day after I showed him the completed major mods (80 series diffs into Hilux with all custom suspension) and said he would approve all the suspension mods but not the tyres, cost $660.
So at least some of my truck is roadworthy, I may have to drive to Sydney in the hope an engineer down there will pass the tyres, as they seem pretty lenient based on some of the trucks I've seen.

Slosh,

Is your car rego'ed in NSW is it? If not (ie reg in QLD) why would ya even bother getting an engineers for the tyres and suspension mods?

QLD DOT will bend you over and split ya big time.

Thanks guys this is just the type of feed back i wanted. there is always talk of engineering's on this board but no one ever seems to mention who they used to approve their mods. this sort of feed back is important to everyone.

I used John Wilson as well. TJ Jeep with 3" lift, control arms, wider track due to rims all approved and then no probs with his report from the RTA. He will probably ask you to go to the old Canberra drag strip for swerve, braking tests etc if you are more than 2" lift.

cheers Matt
