Well what should i be checkin first ? ? ?
My rangies fuel consumption is getting worse its seems to be running fine (under acceleration) but I have done about 200Ks and have less than a qtr of the tank left
I used to get 450K to a tank than it got worse and I started averaging 350 but this is with the bigger tyres and now I dont think I have hit 300ks to a tank the last 5times I have filled it up
After goin to black duck I realised the K&N was farken dirty but I cleaned it and this is the worst tank consuption by far
The only odd thing about the engines running at the moment is the idle its abit up and down and sometimes the engine is stalling (its an auto) i had this problem b4 but was able to adjust the base idle to correct it...
I am sick of fueling up...... I used to get around 300 ks in just offroad work now I am not even gonna get that and its been on road for the whole fricken tank... i havnt given it a foot full and I havnt been trying to set land speed records on the highway either

Is the car smooth to drive ? Does it miss or ping ? Does it feel gutless or have you noticed a power drop?
Check your vacuum advance first,
Pop the top off the dizzy so you can see the plates inside then pull the vacuum hose off the plenium chamber that connects to it then suck on the line. See if the plates in the dizzy move and make sure it will hold pressure. If it does do both those things then it is buggered. Advance Diaphram Options is the place for a replacement, $66 exchange last time I purchased one.
Make sure your timing is right, dunno which engine you have but assuming it is a 3.5 or 3.9 EFI the the timing should be between 1-3degress BTDC at idle with vacuum line to advance disconnected (actually with the 3.9 you can leave it connected as it doesn't matter)
How old are you plugs - if they are older than 15,000 then turf them,
Change your fuel filter while you are at it - that will save premature pump failure.
Give us some more info and we could probably help.

we had a problem like this once when our disco was serviced. If your car is efi its possible a wire has come undone somewhere in the ecu loom. Basically our fuel pump was continuosly pumping fuel into the car non-stop when the engine was on. We also got about 200k's a tank. Took it to the proper landrover dealer, they plugged in their computer, found the problem, reattached the wire and presto, its all good.

New fuel filter, k&n air filter, all oils changed.
I cant find any trace of fuel under the vehicle, the tank seems fine.
I have had suspicions about the feul pump, its not real noisy but you can here it all the time..... also the power steering is making noises at close to full lock both ways

Your problem might not be so simple but.
I never herd much good about the landrover dealers How much did they charge for this computer hook up thingamy boby I am thinking bout Getting it done and then taking it to a V8 engine tuner nearby and having the cam changed and abit of a professional tune up as I am not a motor mechanic
On the positive side I got the maxi drive going ...aswell as my 16x8 steel wheels (painted em black last night)
It was a normal scheduled service (50,000 & 75,000, that kind of thing). At any service like this the mechanics at the dealers usually plug in their diagnostic computers to pin point the problems quickly. I think for that service we were charged somewhere near $500. This fixed up all the fuelconsumption problems and made the engine run smoother.
Although it seems expensive they didn't do a dodgy (created the problem in the first place and left scratches and grease marks all over the front quater panels from when they were working on the engine) job like the specialist landrover workshop we took it to before because they were cheaper. These smaller workshops usually cannot afford the expensive diagnostic computers that landrover dealers use to service all the cars they sell, so consequently they can't do as good a job as the dealer.
If we ever get an engine transplant however and run a different computer we gonna take it to a performance shop to do the tuning and serviceing of the engine, and get our local suspension guy to do the rest.
