colour(s) and design, how to paint?

well i rolled my zook some weeks ago. it's dark blue ATM but when i get me new windscreen fame and targa bar they'll need to be painted. and i was thinking i might change the colour of the whole car at the same time. so here a few ideas i had;

The white night rust guard paint I used for my spray was unreal

It comes in about 16 colours, you can get all colours in 1lt tins, some in 4ltrs.

At 19.99 a tin it cost me $60 to do the whole car and 2 sets of doors.

Its available at any bunnings and you can get matching colours off the shelf in rattle cans for touch ups.

matt black is actually illegal, to do with visibility. A few cars in victoria have been given canaries for matt black paint jobs, mind you they had other things that were picked up too but the colour was mentioned on the reports

I'm with you Bigsteve that paint sounds good. do they have a dark green?

how hard is spraying i did some of it at school but that was just painting a lawnmower
the only thing i worry about is getting runs could i just wipe the paint off were it run let it dry sand the area back and then start again etc

and can i use just a cheapy $30 spray gun from super cheap or should i convince my dad to get a really good quality one

grimbo used spray cans I think....so super cheap is fine, just remember it's not gonna look pro but who really cares. I have only washed my car three times in a year and a half

I used a couple of cans of Colourbond paint for my first colour change. It went easily, just gave the car a light sand and no problems. Current colour has used about 8 cans, been a bit harder as the orange didn't want to go over the green as well. Looked abit ripe in places.

As long as you clean the surface then sand it and clean it once more and work slow enough to guarantee an even finish it should be fine

And thats where most paint jobs go ass up. If you go slow you won't have probs with running either

I picked the camo , what a buzz all the choices yet the first four went the camo

grimbo seen some cool stencils the other day ,for cheetah spots would look exellent on the lower half .

u can buy stencils i thought i just like painted it one colour then just spayed dots and lines were ever and then used another colour etc

Easy as dude Like said go slow but also do lots of lighter coats instead of a few heavy ones. More sanding sure but no runs

well the camo is definately winning so far, but what colours should i use?
i'm thinking outside of the square a little too maybe blues and greys for easy coverage? as i have the blue there already. or should i just do a traditional mix of greens, browns etc?

any other ideas?
