well as every other hiluxdriver im looking for some power
ich could get a rangerover from 1985 for 500€
first i thought of swaping just the motor, but maby it would be
easyer (cheaper) if i swap the whole drivetrain??
what about the axles?? swap them also??
i know ruff did the swap, and it should fit pretty good
are there more pics??

Rover V8
Pretty straight forward actually. But here are some of the pitfalls
1. If using the Rover auto and transfer, output is high and to the right. So with a bit of lift (rear leafs in front) you will have trouble with the Uni's up front. They will bind on the smallest amount of downtravel
2. Cant fit the double cardin next to the gearbox so must be a uni on the box end.
I solved both these problems by linking the front end and pushing the diff forward. Also built a custom shaft that uses a CV at the top end rather than a uni or DC joint. A Standard Hilux CV just fits. Any bigger and you would be in trouble.
3. In the Gen 1 engine bay there is not enough room to put the radiator under the bonnet. Maybe you could putt it in front of the radiator support and space the grill out or something. I put my radiator on the tray. Gen 2 engine bays have anough room (Just) to fit a standard deisel radiator. I am about to put a bigger radiator in mine as the current one is a bit small and the engine runs a bit hot.

Driveshaft is only a problem if you are using the rover box and transfer. If using a standard hilux box with adapter plate/ bellhousing, the angle appears to be pretty goo. The Rover output is very high and forward compared to the Hilux output if that makes sense

When i spoke to Dellow 2 years ago just before i did my Rover V8 conversion they told me they had 1 bellhousing left and were not planning on making anymore. I ended up buying a complete conversion from a wrecker.

Why? This would be a wast of Money.
Sure the crown and pinion may be stronger than a hilux but thats where it stops. There is very little you can do to strengthen the CVs. At least there are a lot of aftermarket options for the Toyota CV.
I run Hilux Diffs in my buggy and have had no real problems considering the way it is constantly abused. I have damaged one rear Crown and Pinion and i put this down to poor gear set up which i did my self.
