Hi All,
I'm looking at buying either a Zuk or an Nissan SWB, My problem is i'm not sure which one to go for.
The Nissan has a couple of +'s that come to mind,
My main question is what kind of money would i be able to pickup say
an MQ and what kind of things should i look out for any help would be excellent.
Also what kind of costs and or problems would there be running either 33" x 10.5 or 11.5/12.5 vs 35" x 10.5/11.5/12.5??
I'm also looking at lockers front & rear does anyone run lockrights or are ARB's the go
Thanks all,
Quenten

look for rust around the front just behind the grill and next to the radiator, it can be hard to spot but when you find it it can be bad!!!
The susppension on mine has started to sag but it's not to bad.
Look for cracks on the air filter casing at the mounting points.
I'm about to fit 33" tyres and have been told they will be no problem.
I have had really no other problems with my diesel and i'm about to click over to 400,000 km.
You won't be disapointed.

Wanted: MQ ute body

33's will fit with about 2" lift no probs but 35's will require a bit of guard cutting.
Not to sure about lockrites in the MQ's but i'm running f & r arb's and have had no probs at all
With a 2 inch body lift and a 2 inch suspension lift, you should only have to trim the rear guards very slightly to prevent rubbing.

Hi All
Thanks for your replys sounds great, few more Q's
Does anyone know what year models are better vs older etc?
i'm looking at a diesel probably what about them vs turboed diesel models etc?
Whats the stock gearing like do the Transfer cases do a 1:1 in high range or are they like the zuk's i think its a 1:1.5/2 or something?
Whats gears worth + rockhoppers for these beasts?
Thanks So Far,
Quenten

ive got a diesel with no turbo and it has more than enough power but the turbo would be a bonus. definately try and get a five speed, the four will to 120km/h on the freeway but it is screamin for a fifth gear.
don't know the gearing but 2nd lowrange gets me out of almost anything.
Go the deisel

Gearing in the transfer case of an MK/Q is 1:1 high range and either 2.074:1 or 2.22:1 in low range. And AFAIK you can't get rockhopper gears for these cases.

If you can get a turbo diesel go for it.All you have to do to get them going better is big exhaust, shorten the rod on the wastegate and wind up the pump and they go pretty good.
Unfotunately no-one does any lower transfer gearing for them as they are a chain driven transfer, but a place called Diff Lapping in brisbane used to sell 4:88 diff gears for them but i don't know if they still do them or not.
