newbie to 4wd here

Post by charles »

Hello all.

I am newbie to 4wd, and just after some advice.

Wan't to purchase a trayback ute but not sure what to get. So far I have been told that the patrol running gear is the toughest around?

I intend on modifying the truck for heavy offroad, and need to tow builders trailer on daily basis.

Cruiser or patrol, what are the pro's & con's.

Thanks

You can get a patrol in coils front and back... short of that, the Nissan front axle is a little stronger than the toyota at the CV's.

Both come in strong turbo diesel engines.. really comes down to whether you are a toyota or a nissan bloke probably.
Cheers,
Dan.

Maybe around 20k, but I am not after latest model I would prefer a pre loved truck that I can spend a bit of money on after I get it.

So I guess 10k for truck 10k for mods.??????????? :?:

Or an already modded unit.

I imagine they should drop a bit in the next few months with the latest model being released they are now 2 models behind, wagons will be cheap as cheaps, utes will drop, but probably not as much as still be rare to find. Mind you I found my dual cab conversion for $14k when there wasn't a single cab ute under $20k, get a $9k wagon chopped into a ute perhaps, be careful there are early leaf sprung GQ utes around.

Above is a very good price for a modded cruiser.

Im biased towards patrols, but this one is near your budget, and for sure you wont be able to build the vehicle in the link for the amount of money you've got.

Bargain at its price.
