ive got a mate who wants to lift his shorty gq patrol on a real tight budget. i know 4" lift and he'll have vibration probs so was thinking 3". now would he only need shocks, springs, castor bushes and extended brake and diff lines. do ya recon he'll need to lenghten his panhards aswell or should it be right.
his aim is to put 33" tires on and hit some medium off road trails

wont need to do panhards.
He'll be right.
Wont need to do brake lines. Just unbolt the front brake line off the diff just in case and you'll be fine.
Diff breathers.. they'll need to be done anyway so reroute the breather lines to the firewall with a one way filter or a fuel filter with the exit pipe facing downards.

I'd be careful trying to lift a shorty on a tight budget...
I gave that a go, and the 2" lift (tho it sat at about 3") caused (really) bad driveshaft vibrations, and cos i was (am? ) on a tight budget, I had no money to spend to try to sort it out. Which adds up to having a set of lifted springs & shocks sitting in the shed...
Mebbe your mate already knows all that, but i just thought I'd share anyway
Of course, he could be luckier than i was and have no problems at all...

Didn't have any real problem with my lift...
Only had to use springs and shocks.
The front brake line is held by a clip to the firewall (I think). If you undo the clip the brake line will stretch down and wont need extending.
Rear brake line wasn't a problem - maybe a little tight...
Diff breathers OK.
Panhard rod is borderline. The axle is noticably shifted about 1-2cm off centre but isn't a problem.
There was a bit of vibration afterwards, but I installed about 15mm of gearbox packers and it has stopped.

i would play with heights of springs if your mate is willing to buy adjustable panhards look at the 4 inch first as i have 4 inch and only needed gearbox packers every patrol is different especially in shorty's i new a guy who needed to rotate his diff backwards and ended up paying shit loads
