The track will be in the same place but with a few changes, and each of the 3 stages will be a bit longer, the last obstical (Jackhammer Pass) will still be used.

Cool i also hope you guys move the bunting a little further apart because this thing is as wide as a BUS :D

Our new web site is http://www.onall4s4wdclub.com there is only basic info about woodpecker at the moment but check back in a couple of weeks and the site should be up and running.
Anyone heading out for the day could you please avoid the Sackville and Lower Portland ferries, the best way to get there is via Pitt Town Rd at McGraths Hill or if your heading from the north of Sydney The Old Northern Rd from Dural is the quickest way.

So Tony are you saying you`d rather not finish the cause and not win if it ment you had to winch, some times 1 winch can be the differance between winning and 5th or 10th.

I can understand not wanting to winch when socail driving or when in an event up there as they don`t have winching  but when in a comp like woodpecker that some times winching might be to your advantage I just don`t understand your proplem with winching

I dont think i have said that at all??? What gave you this idea?

As it stands this vehicle has NEVER WINCHED a single obstical in competition.

Now i will answer this again now that you Edited it.

I dont have a problem with winching. I dont think i have said i have.

The only time i have ever said anything about winching is when someone doesnt even try to drive an obstical or has a half hearted attempt before they pull the winch. I dont see the point of this in an event that was designed to be driven not winched.

No one drove the last obstacle, tho a few got there and after trying winched, i know that this includes jamie(fourwheeling) and myself.

Jamie and his other car sam(allah) came 1st, and me and mick christopher came 2nd.

i think that there may have been a couple oif others that finished also, but all on the end of the cable.

Yeah im pretty sure the Hilux Larry is talking about was the basicaly stock looking one with the Alloy tray. I know Grant Phillips also got to the last obstical and winched. I think Cheezy would have made it also except for his Transfer failure.

Im not saying i wont winch but at this point in time i have no intention and i will be very surprised if i get to the last obstical and cant drive it. Chances are with how wide the Mog is and how heavy it is i will prob take out the bunting long before i get to the end.

I do remember a Patrol giving it a real good shot but i thought it still ended up having to pull the winch in the end. I dont remember anyone actually driving it unassisted.

Damn i dont remember it being this steap

Good stuff tony , I was trying to remember who actually got there ect ,
I Think If you get there the only thing agianst you will be the width ,
Looking down from the top , Its a pretty narrow crevice what a bUzz ,
I,ll be up top trying to blind you with my flash!! ,
But yes they usually put a narrow bit in the bunting here and there to catch you off gaurd :) Good luck ,

The last hill { JACKHAMMER PASS } has been widened this year for the
bravehearts to have a go, no one drove it last year and i dont think anyone will this year. The track will be test driven in 2 weeks unlike nissan trials. See you all there on the 28th. :D

Jesus, this would nearly be worth driving down to watch Ruff and the Mog have a go at this last "undriveable" obstacle!!!

I hope he doesn't hit the bunting!!

How is the running order picked??? and is it shown anywhere prior to the event???

Normaly it is worked out by the 1st to pay runs 1st and the last to pay runs last, this is for the 1st pair of each club, then it does the same again for the 2nd pair in each club. So say team 1 has its 1st 2 cars run at 8am and it takes 4hrs for all teams to get 2 cars through then team 20 runs its 1st 2 cars at 12, then team 1 runs its 2nd pair at 1215 and team 20 runs its last 2 at 4pm, so to speak.

I have for the last year been trying to talk Jamie Smith into running any interstaters in the 1st quarter of the field so they can then get going on their long drives home by early to mid arvo (he agrees). But This year as far as I know Jamie isn`t running the event like in previous years somebody else is doing it.

Agreed, don`t know if you have seen the 2002 Woodpecker video but if you have you will see that I gave the boat ramp a good go before I pulled the cable, I only had 1 wheel on the ground and was still full on on the gas in 3rd low.
